The Gravesend Art Group has been in existence for around 50 years.  It is comprised entirely of amateurs who together, enjoy the practice of painting and drawing and the visual arts generally.  The group meets weekly on a Friday evening in a local hall during the winter months and in summer at suitable painting sites in the district.  There are occasional Sunday meetings.  The group runs an annual summer exhibition and participates in other exhibitions from time to time.  An annual dinner and a Christmas ‘get-together’ provide opportunities for specific social meetings.  Art holidays are also arranged during the summer.  The group prides itself on the general convivial atmosphere which prevails throughout all of its activities and members are encouraged to participate actively to maintain this tradition.

NOTE
It would be of interest to the Committee if applicants could give brief information regarding any previous involvement in Art Groups and/or courses, such as those provided by Adult Education Centres.  Prospective new members must be able to paint without help since there is no tutoring available at the Club.  The Committee would also like to see some examples of current work.
