Charles Dickens 1812-2012
This embroidery of Gad’s Hill Place is by Heather Kohn. It is one of the works chosen by TownCentric.
Celebrating the bi-centenary of his birth
Dickens is generally regarded as the greatest English writer of the 19th century. He was born on 7 February, 1812, and died at his home, Gad’s Hill Place, on 9 June, 1870.
The group has produced a series of paintings, some of which are being used as postcards by TownCentric, the Gravesend tourist office. All the paintings will be on show later this year. See inside for details. Click images to enlarge.
